Life Monteverde Coffee Tour
This tour is for the coffee lover. It focuses entirely on coffee and its production. The farm is one of the most sustainable and beautiful in the area. The tour departs daily. For more information and price ask at the front desk. The most popular and largest of the cloud forest reserves. The park includes 15km of trails for all ages and abilities. It is the only park that has both the Pacific and Atlantic slope trails. Opened from 7:00am to 4:30pm. Café Don Juan
This tour focuses on coffee but it also includes a sugar farm and chocolate tour. A very popular tour, Don Juan’s farm is a working farm and a great example of eco-tourism in action. The tour departs daily and requires a reservation. For more information and prices ask the front desk

El Trapiche Sugar Tour
Sugar is the focus. A wonderful, working sugar mill, the tour explores the whole process from plant to sweet. Like Don Juan’s this tour also includes coffee and chocolate. Again, a good example of agriculture tourism. The tour departs daily. For more information and prices ask the front desk.

NATURE EXHIBITS & MUSEUMS

The Bat Jungle
Designed to introduce visitors to the incredible world of bats, The Bat Jungle in Monteverde offers a world class bat exhibit where live bats fly through a simulated jungle environment. 90 live bats of 8 species. Our bats fly, eat, socialize, nurse their babies and even give birth right before your eyes. Features a special ultrasonic microphone that allows visitors to hear bats echolocating and socializing in real time. For more information please ask the front desk.

The Frog Pond
Over 25 species of native frogs, toads and other amphibians live in large terrariums that simulate their nature environment. Tours are accompanied by a bilingual guide. Each tour teaches about the frog’s history, habitat, and unique characteristics. Some of the frogs and toads on hand include the colorful poison arrow frog, crowned frog, marine toad, cane toad, leopard frog, hourglass frog, and the famous red-eyed tree frog. The Orchid Garden
Guides accompany visitors as they stroll through the garden and tell visitors about how orchids are collected, how they are grown, and why they are unique. All visitors are given with a magnifying glass and tips on how to raise their own orchids at home. Tours last between 30 minutes and an hour, and can be held in both English and Spanish. The Butterfly Garden
Tours are approximately an hour in length, and include an introduction to Costa Rica’s buglife and an orientation to the gardens. Stroll through our 4 gardens to experience butterflies, insects arachnids, and our active leafcutter ant colony. Experience our rearing chamber, where caterpillars are becoming butterflies.
